Care Guidelines

Large, firm, juicy, sweet, nearly black when ripe. Superb flavor, the No. 1 cherry. Large vigorous tree. USDA Zones 5-9.

  • 700 chill hour requirement.

  • Harvest through May to June.

  • Pollinized by Black Tart, Van, Rainier and Lapins. Also Stella in colder climates. 

BING

Dark red sweet cherry from Canada. Large, firm, good flavor. Similar to Van in color, Bing in shape. Sometimes sold as 'Self-fertile Bing.' Ripens 4 days after Bing. USDA Zones 5-9.

  • 400 chill hour requirement.

  • Harvest in June.

  • Self-fruitful.

LAPINS

Large, yellow with red blush. Sweet and flavorful. Very cold hardy. Midseason harvest. USDA Zones 5-9.

  • 700 chill hour requirement.

  • Harvest May to June.

  • Pollinized by Van, Lambert, Lapins, Black Tartarian &Bing.

RAINIER

Large, nearly black, richly flavored sweet cherry similar to its parent, Lambert. Late harvest. USDA Zones 5-9.

  • 400 chill hour requirement.

  • Harvest in June.

  • Self-fruitful. Pollinates Bing, except in mild winter climates.

STELLA

The long-awaited low-chill self-fruitful sweet cherry from Zaiger Genetics, Royal Crimson is a consistent producer of large, tasty, crimson-red fruit. Patent applied for. (Zaiger) 

  • 200-300 chill hour requirement.

  • Harvest early to mid May.

  • Self-fruitful. Excellent pollinizer for Minnie Royal and Royal Lee.

UTAH GIANT

The industry favorite sweet cherry in Utah. Larger, firmer, more flavorful than Bing or Lambert. Good canner. Does not double. 

  • 800 chill hour requirement.

  • Harvest late May to early June.

  • Pollinized by Stella, Black Tartarian or Rainier. 

  • Only available in a multi grafted tree for the 2022 season.

Very cold hardy, reliable, heavy bearing. Fine fruit similar to Bing, though usually smaller.
